Built up as Matt’s bike for the hilly courses, the System Six is a dream. Matt has had a long history with Cannondale. Beginning in 2000 when Matt worked at the chief mechanic for the Timex Women’s Professional Cycling Team, there has always been a Cannondale in Matt’s quiver. Built up with a compact crank, this is the bike Matt rode for 2/3’s of his 380-plus mile ride across Maine last summer. With the 22,000 feet of climbing, the System Six, mated with Mavic’s R-Sys wheels made the steepest grades seems to flatten before his eyes. The massive headtube holds a full carbon fork that tapers from 1 1/2” to 1 1/8” for added stiffness. The frame combines a high modulus unidirectional carbon front triangle mated with an ultra-light, race-proven aluminum rear triangle. The result is the lightest, stiffest, most explosive Cannondale Matt has ever ridden.
